Pilates


Pilates is a unique system of over 500 controlled stretching and strengthening exercises developed by Joseph Pilates.

PILATES’ BENEFITS:

  • Strengthens support for spine and pelvis, promoting good posture and increasing range of motion
  • Builds strength and flexibility without excess bulk
  • Improves balance and coordination
  • Focus is on quality of movement, therefore less reps are needed and no muscle group is overworked
  • Assists rehabilitation of hip or other joint replacements, frozen shoulders, knee and back pain, etc

THE EXERCISES:

  • Work from what Joseph Pilates called the Powerhouse (or the core) , i.e. the abdominal and other postural muscles
  • Focus on the mind/body connection, training the mind and body to work together
  • Provide a gentle and controlled workout with no hard impact to your body; is easy on the joints
  • Can be done by people of all ages, genders, and levels of body fitness
  • Are customized to each individual — from those who have been injured — are not at all active — to professional athletes
  • Are safe for expectant Mothers

Given Quality of Life

A friend recommended Cathie as a Pilates instructor.  I had severe sciatic pain in my right leg after a mishap.  Chiropractic adjustments and physical therapy failed.  After doing Pilates for 8 weeks the pain was gone.  Several months later, after suffering with an atrophied knee for 12 years, my leg straightened totally. I have been given a quality of life I didn’t think I would ever have again.

Increase my Flexibility

As a 65 year old male, I was looking for a program that would increase my flexibility.  Since attending my  Pilates sessions that has happened.  I also have the added benefit of no more chronic shoulder pain.

Cathie McCue really knows the body structure and after taking her Pilates classes you will know your body too.  She will help you identify your problem areas and teach you how to correct them.  You may just find you have a whole new body lying hidden inside of you.  Make no mistake, you will need to do the work to find it, but it will be well worth the effort!!
